Balmar’s new XT-Series High Powered Alternator combines the latest innovations in alternator design to deliver outstanding charging power in a compact, Marine and RV-friendly package. With a state-of-the-art braided wire stator, the Balmar XT-Series generates exceptional output in the smallest possible footprint. As a result, it produces more power than our previous AT-Series models and operates 5–10°C cooler.
To enhance reliability, we’ve integrated Balmar’s Smart Ready® internal regulator technology, offering an additional layer of fault tolerance for cruising boaters. Moreover, Balmar XT-Series mounting options now include the “Vortec” 9Si configuration commonly found on GM gasoline engines.
The Balmar High Powered Alternator XT-Series features 96 slots—compared to just 36 in traditional S-wound stators—enabling superior electromagnetic energy and efficiency. Because of this, the stator performs at a higher level than conventional designs.
The Balmar High Powered Alternator XT-170 and XT-250 deliver impressive output at low RPMs—up to 128A and 186A respectively, for 12V systems. However, if your current tachometer is not adjustable, a Tachometer Signal Stabilizer (Part No. 15-TSS) may be required.
It’s important to note that XT-Series Alternators are intended for use only with Dual Vee or Multi-Groove Serpentine belt configurations. To support this, Balmar offers a full range of AltMount® Serpentine Pulley Conversion Kits compatible with the XT-Series.
